Thermostatic Radiator Valves

Adjust the temperature perfectly in each room with our range of thermostatic radiator valves, also referred to as TRVs. These valves offer meticulous control over room heating by allowing you to set different temperatures for individual radiators, effectively directing heat where it's needed most. Browse our selection of thermostatic valves, with free standard UK delivery on orders over £499.

Compared to conventional manual valves, thermostatic radiator valves provide enhanced versatility and control. Their intuitive design senses room temperature and adapts water flow to maintain a consistent ambient temperature, effectively minimising energy consumption. By shutting off once the desired temperature is attained, thermostatic valves not only promote energy efficiency but also contribute to cost savings.

Discover our diverse selection of thermostatic radiator valves, encompassing smart radiator valves that seamlessly integrate with smart home controls. Select from an array of TRV types, including straight, angled and corner radiator valves, in finishes ranging from matte black and ultra-modern anthracite grey to classic white, polished chrome and brushed brass.

Stylish beasts

These were the perfect radiator valves to go with our bathroom towel rail and we are not disappointed. They look amazing, work beautifully, and are quite heavy duty so we know they will last. Not cheap, but worth every penny.

FAQ's

Looking to upgrade from manual to thermostatic radiator valves (TRVs)? Then read on to find out more about TRVs, such as placement, the differences between them and manual valves, and which rooms and radiators they are suitable for.

What is a thermostatic radiator valve?

A thermostatic radiator valve offers convenient temperature control for your radiator and precise regulation of the heat output. It functions based on a preset maximum temperature, with the valve once this level is achieved. This action halts the hot water flow into the radiator, ensuring a consistent temperature and reducing the necessity for the heating system to continuously supply new hot water.

What is the difference between manual and thermostatic radiator valves?

The difference between manual and thermostatic valves comes down to how they function. Manual radiator valves serve to simply turn radiators on or off. While the central heating temperature is controlled by the boiler or thermostat, manual valves allow individual control over each radiator, regulating the flow of hot water as needed for specific rooms.

Thermostatic valves operate differently. They use an expanding and contracting pin mechanism to manage the hot water flow into the radiator. Once the desired temperature is reached, the TRV should restrict water entry until the room cools down, maintaining a consistent temperature.

Can you put a thermostatic valve on any radiator?

Technically, you can put a thermostatic valve on any and all radiators in your home. However, it is best to use manual valves on one radiator in order to ensure a steady temperature is maintained throughout the house. In addition, installing a thermostatic radiator valve in a bathroom or ensuite might not be the best choice due to the effects of steam and heat. Instead of operating efficiently to regulate the radiator, residual heat from the steam might disrupt the internal thermostat, leading the valve to shut off the radiator or heated towel rail entirely.

Can you fit a thermostatic radiator valve without draining the system?

When replacing a single radiator valve, you can do so without completely draining the system. However, if multiple valve changes across several radiators are planned, it would be more advisable to drain the entire heating system.

Does it matter which side a thermostatic valve goes on a radiator?

While thermostatic valves can be installed on either side of the radiator, it's best to place them on the flow side. This side allows for better control as it's where the hot water enters the radiator, facilitating more effective temperature regulation by the TRV.
