Questionable build

I purchased these taps 10 years ago. I know that's a long time, but around 2 years ago, the chrome on the cold tap started breaking down. Two years on and the chrome has broken down so badly it has fouled the threads and the tap now needs to be replaced. Overall a lovely tap but I would have expected more than 10 years out of a tap.

Hot tap

The hot tap turns clockwise instead of stead of anti clockwise like the cold tap. Had two sets installed and they are very hard to get used to. Why change the direction!!! Other reviewers have said the same thing.
