If you're thinking about using matt tiles (or just want to be sure you're picking the right ones), here's what to know.
What are matt tiles?
Matt tiles have a low-shine finish rather than the reflective surface of gloss tiles. That muted surface gives them a more natural appearance, especially in stone-look, concrete-look and patterned designs. Most matt tiles in our range are ceramic or porcelain, although you'll find other materials too.
Unlike gloss, matt tiles hide marks and water spots more easily, which makes them a favourite for bathrooms and high traffic areas.
Are matt tiles good for bathroom floors?
Yes, provided the tile is suitable for floors and has the right level of slip resistance for where you're fitting it. A matt finish alone doesn't tell you how much grip a tile offers, especially when wet. Check the product's floor suitability and slip rating before choosing tiles for a bathroom floor, shower floor or wet room.
Do matt tiles make a room feel darker?
Not necessarily. Matt tiles reflect less light than gloss tiles, but colour and lighting make a difference too. Pale shades can keep a room feeling bright, while darker tiles can create a more enclosed look. If you're unsure, view a sample in the room at different times of day.
Are matt tiles easier to maintain?
