If you like the look of natural materials, then choose wood effect or stone effect tiles for floors. These have all the visual appeal without the stress.

Should your floors be lighter or darker than your walls?

It really depends on the look you’re going for:

• Lighter floors can make smaller spaces feel bigger and more open.
• Darker floors bring warmth and richness to larger or naturally bright rooms.

To keep things looking balanced, aim for at least a two-shade difference between floors and walls, as this helps add depth.

Are floor tiles slippery?
