Beautiful soft tiles

These are very large, beautiful tiles. Our tiler reported they are great to work with and very good quality. They are lighter and the colour is not so defined and differentiated as the photograph but that might be as they are in a north facing bathroom.

FAQ's

Whether you're revamping a busy kitchen or refreshing a hallway, tiles outshine carpet, wood and vinyl when it comes to durability, maintenance and design flexibility. In this section, we break down the benefits of floor tiles, which types work best where and how to choose the right colours for your space.

Why choose floor tiles?

Unlike carpets that trap stains or solid wood that scratches and warps, floor tiles offer a perfect blend of strength, style and simplicity. They’re water-resistant, low-maintenance and built to handle heavy foot traffic without losing their good looks. Unlike vinyl flooring, which can wear over time, or carpet, which needs frequent deep cleans, tiles are easy to care for and incredibly long-lasting.

Which type of tiles are best for flooring?

Porcelain tiles lead the way, as they are highly durable, resitant to water and ideal for busy spaces like kitchens and hallways. If you want low maintenance and affordability, ceramic tiles are a solid choice. If you love the look of wood or stone but want to avoid the upkeep, both wood effect and stone effect tiles offer the perfect blend of style and convenience with none of the hassle. For added safety in wet areas like bathrooms, non-slip tiles are a smart solution.

Should your floors be lighter or darker than your walls?

It depends on the effect you’re after. Lighter floors can make small or dimly lit rooms feel bigger and brighter, while darker floors in larger, well-lit spaces add depth and a sense of luxury. The key is contrast; aim for at least two shades difference between floor and wall colours to keep the space visually dynamic and avoid a flat, washed-out look. If you’re looking to switch things up, you can also paint floor tiles; just be sure to clean and prepare the surface properly, and use the right paint and sealant for a long-lasting finish.
