Shower Sets

This is really solid and well made. The valve itself is very hefty and the controls are reassuringly stiff to turn. The rail is all metal and the extension slides very smoothly. Nothing is loose or wobbly and everything fits together nicely. The only slight letdown is the handheld shower head which is very light plastic. It feels a bit cheap especially compared to the rest of the item but it's one of the easiest parts to swap out with an alternative. In use the shower is easy to operate and the overhead outlet is amazing and a big upgrade over what we had before. If you are replacing an existing shower with the same pipe size (15mm), spacing (150mm) and hot/cold orientation (hot on the left), installation will be pretty straight-forward, otherwise it's not really a DIY job. I'd highly recommend the separate fitting kit. I don't know why this isn't included instead of the horrible offset connectors. I've never had much confidence in fittings that rely upon packing PTFE tape on the thread to create a watertight seal and the considerable weight of the valve will be hanging off these. If the connection is dribbling a little bit it will be behind the tiles and you won't be able to tell until the damage is done. The fixing kit uses a compression fit and the weight is taken up by the brass plates which are fixed to the tile. It's also easier to ensure they are level and have the correct spacing. A major relief was that the shower worked with our positive head pump (I was prepared to replace the pump if it hadn't worked). All of the shower valves on the site say they will not work with positive pumps though it's not really that simple. It would be more accurate to say that it might not work as it depends on the pressure available without the pump running, the specification of the pump and the flow rate offered by the plumbing. If you already have a positive pump it might be worth fitting the shower and seeing if it works before incurring the cost of a universal pump. All in all this is a really high quality product, excellent value for money and as "easy" to fit as any shower will be. We've been using it for over a month now and the whole family is really pleased with it.

The main problem with this shower is that the shower head is too heavy and and sags down due to the base fitting on the unit itself being a bit too flimsy. I had to attach a custom made fitting on the wall to to keep the shower head perfectly vertical.
