3 Hole Basins
A 3 hole basin is designed for a three-part tap setup, usually with a central spout and separate hot and cold controls. It gives you a more spread-out tap arrangement across the basin and works particularly well with three hole basin taps.
Three hole taps can give the basin a more decorative look, making them a natural fit for traditional, classic and more design-led bathrooms. Choose three hole bathroom sinks in finishes that match your other fittings to carry the same look across the rest of the room.
Make sure the basin and tap are designed to work together, as the spacing between the three holes can vary. Check the product measurements and tap specifications before ordering, especially if you're replacing an existing 3 hole basin or trying to work with pipework already in place.

Gorgeous Sink, Love the Extra Height
9th July 2026Could not be more pleased with this sink. Due to space constraints we could not accommodate a vanity unit and so we "settled" for a pedestal sink. I am so glad we made this choice, really helps nail the traditional aesthetic we were going for. The bowl size is great, easy to wash your face over it without splashing water everywhere or bumping your forehead on the tap. Also happy that we went with this taller version rather than the standard height, as my partner and I are both quite tall. We paired it with the Crosswater Belgravia Crosshead Mixer Tap.

A classical soft lines Basin
10th May 2026This product is perfect for a softer look to your room, the contours are less sharp, very happy with this product however do remember due to its size the pedestal sits quite far forwards.

Super Basin
5th February 2024The basin arrived in one piece which is always a good thing. It's taller than I visualised but that is not a bad thing as my husband has Parkinson's and the extra height helps him.

FAQ's
Not sure whether three tap holes are right for your bathroom? These FAQs explain which taps you'll need, what to check before replacing a basin and how a 3 hole bathroom sink compares with other options.
What taps do I need for a 3 tap hole basin?
You'll usually need a three hole basin tap, with a spout in the middle and separate hot and cold controls on either side. There are modern and traditional styles available, so you can choose a design that works with the rest of your bathroom.
Will any 3 hole basin tap fit a 3 hole basin?
Not necessarily. Having three holes doesn’t mean every three hole tap will fit every basin. Make sure you check the distance between the holes and the tap measurements before you buy a three hole bathroom sink, especially if you already have a set of taps you want to keep.
What's the difference between a 2 and 3 tap hole basin?
A two hole basin usually has separate hot and cold taps. A three hole basin, on the other hand, normally has a separate spout in the middle, with hot and cold controls on either side.
Are 3 hole basins only for traditional bathrooms?
No. They're often used in traditional bathrooms, but there are plenty of modern three hole tap designs too. The look comes down to the taps you choose, so a 3 hole basin can work just as well in a more contemporary bathroom.
