What taps do I need for a 3 tap hole basin?

You'll usually need a three hole basin tap, with a spout in the middle and separate hot and cold controls on either side. There are modern and traditional styles available, so you can choose a design that works with the rest of your bathroom.

 

Will any 3 hole basin tap fit a 3 hole basin?

Not necessarily. Having three holes doesn’t mean every three hole tap will fit every basin. Make sure you check the distance between the holes and the tap measurements before you buy a three hole bathroom sink, especially if you already have a set of taps you want to keep.

 

What's the difference between a 2 and 3 tap hole basin?

A two hole basin usually has separate hot and cold taps. A three hole basin, on the other hand, normally has a separate spout in the middle, with hot and cold controls on either side.

 

Are 3 hole basins only for traditional bathrooms?

No. They're often used in traditional bathrooms, but there are plenty of modern three hole tap designs too. The look comes down to the taps you choose, so a 3 hole basin can work just as well in a more contemporary bathroom.
