27th October 2026Great looking item that matches quality of the radiators, however, sometimes they don’t fully open, (or think it’s warm enough so partially close) so the radiator never gets to full temp. By loosening the metal cap a turn or so sorts it.

What is a thermostatic radiator valve?
A thermostatic radiator valve (TRV) automatically regulates the flow of hot water into a radiator according to the temperature of the room. As the room reaches the temperature set on the valve, it reduces the flow of water into the radiator. When the temperature drops, the valve can open again to provide more heat.
This gives you greater control over individual room temperatures compared with a manual radiator valve.

Can I fit a thermostatic radiator valve to my existing radiator?
In many cases, an existing radiator can be fitted with TRVs. You just need to make sure that the radiator connection and valve are compatible.
Check the valve connection, pipework configuration and the type of radiator you have before purchasing.
If you're replacing an existing manual valve, check whether you need a straight, angled or corner TRV to suit the way your pipework connects to the radiator.
Can I use thermostatic radiator valves on all my radiators?
TRVs can be fitted to multiple radiators and, depending on your heating system, may be suitable for use throughout your home.
However, it’s often best practice to leave one radiator without a TRV. This is because if all the TRVs close at the same time, your heating system still needs to maintain adequate water flow. It’s usually recommended to leave your bathroom radiator without TRVs, as the humidity and heat from the shower can confuse the system.
The right setup depends on your boiler and heating system, so check the manufacturer's requirements or speak to a qualified heating professional before making a decision.
