Offering both functionality and affordability, our range of close coupled toilets includes our best value, in-house designs as well as an extensive selection from leading sanitaryware brands, including Burlington, Duravit, RAK Ceramics and Villeroy & Boch.

Close coupled toilets differ from another popular choice; back to wall toilets. With close coupled toilets, the exposed cistern sits directly atop the pan, providing a distinctive look and functionality compared to the concealed cistern of back to wall toilets. They also differ from traditional high level toilets due to the combination of cistern and pan in a single, compact unit.

Great Little Loo!

Looks lovely and the traditional appearance fits well in our home. The soft flush mechanism has taken a while to get used to but works very well.

Looks Good, Shame About the Flush

29th April 2024

This is a neat and tidy toilet. Looks good. Be aware that although it’s only a couple of inches taller than average, it makes a big difference to the ‘feel’. Now for the down side. The flush is pretty pathetic. At least 2 fishes required to leave a clean bowl (I’m sure I don’t need to go into more detail) so actually uses more water than a larger capacity flush not less. And it’s so tall and slim on the inside that it’s actually really hard to clean with a brush. All in all not very impressive. I fact if I could, I would return it.

Iconic Combined Two-In-One Wash Basin + Toilet

Very Good

24th April 2024

Very good idea but more gimmick than use. Enamel missing in places on the basin and also does not sit snug on the cistern, which means it rocks when the tap is turned on. Hose connections not long enough to reach inside and connect so you have to buy longer ones. Also as standard base fixes not supplied which is strange you have buy separately.

FAQ's

Whether you have a modern or traditional bathroom, a close coupled toilet is an ideal choice. With such a wide variety available, there are a number of considerations to make when buying one. Take a look at some of our frequently asked questions to help you choose the right option.

What is a close coupled toilet?

A close coupled toilet is a conventional toilet where the bowl and cistern are closely coupled together rather than being separated. Close coupled toilets are available in a wide range of different styles, from ultra modern designs to timeless, classic options to suit more traditional bathrooms.

Are all close coupled toilets the same?

The 'close coupling' of a toilet bowl and cistern doesn't mean that all close coupled toilets are the same. Close coupled toilets can be traditional, as with a close coupled back to wall toilet, minimalist, such as those featuring rimless designs, or more ornate, especially when paired with a traditional solid wood toilet seat.

What is the difference between a close coupled toilet and a back to wall toilet?

With a close coupled toilet, the cistern sits on the toilet pan while, with a back to wall toilet, the toilet plan fits flush against a wall and utilises a concealed cistern. Both types can be compact in order to save space in a smaller bathroom, but a back to wall toilet is an even tidier option for contemporary spaces.

Why buy a close coupled toilet?

Close coupled toilets have a number of benefits - they are easy to install, very durable and hard wearing - alongside all the advantages you'd expect from a conventional toilet. In addition, they are available in short projections, which makes them a great space saver in a cloakroom toilet or smaller bathroom.
