Vertical Column Radiators

What are the benefits of vertical column radiators?

• Space-saving design: Their narrow width makes them ideal for walls where horizontal space is limited.
• Good heat output: Multiple columns provide plenty of surface area for effective heat distribution.
• Statement style: The tall design creates an eye-catching feature in both traditional and contemporary interiors.
• Ideal for awkward spaces: They can make use of narrow areas of wall that may not suit a standard horizontal radiator.
• Range of options: Available in different heights, widths, column configurations and finishes to suit your space.

Are vertical column radiators efficient?

When correctly sized for the room, vertical column radiators can provide effective heating. Their vertical orientation does not automatically make them more or less efficient than horizontal column radiators.

The most important considerations are the radiator's BTU output, the room's heat requirements and how effectively your heating system is controlled.

Are vertical column radiators suitable for small rooms?

Yes, vertical column radiators are a practical choice for smaller rooms where horizontal wall space is limited. The tall, narrow design allows you to use vertical wall space without taking up as much width.

However, always check the radiator's BTU output to make sure it provides enough heat for the room.

What size vertical column radiator do I need?

The right size depends on your room’s heat requirements and your available wall space. Be sure to consider factors like room size, insulation, windows and external walls when calculating the required BTU output. Our full guide on BTU calculations may be helpful here.

You can also choose between different numbers of columns depending on the heat output and depth you need. 2 column radiators offer a slimmer profile, while 3 column and 4 column radiators provide greater heat output but generally have greater depth.

Once you know the BTU output required, choose a vertical column radiator with enough heat output and check its height, width and depth to make sure it fits your space.
