What is a Type 11 radiator?

A Type 11 radiator (also known as a K1 or single panel radiators) is a type of central heating radiator that as one heating panel with a single row of convector fins behind it. 

The fins increase the radiator's surface area, helping transfer heat into the room, while its single panel design gives it a slimmer profile than double panel radiators.

 

What's the difference between Type 11, Type 21 and Type 22 radiators?

The number refers to the number of panels and rows of convector fins. 

• Type 11 has one panel and one row of fins
• Type 21 has two panels and one row of fins
• Type 22 has two panels and two rows of fins 

Generally, adding panels and fins increases heat output but also makes the radiator deeper, so Type 11 radiators are a good choice when you want a radiator without the bulk.

For larger or colder rooms that require a higher heat output, a Type 21 or Type 22 radiator may be more suitable.

 

How do I choose the right Type 11 radiator?

Start by working out how much heat your room needs in BTUs, taking into account factors such as room size, insulation, windows and external walls.

Choose a Type 11 radiator with a BTU output that meets the room's requirements. 

Be sure to also check its height, width and depth to make sure it fits your available wall space. A wider or taller Type 11 radiator can provide a higher output without necessarily needing a deeper radiator.
