Countertop Basins
Countertop basins sit on top of a worktop or vanity unit, making them a great way to add a statement focal point to your bathroom. From small cloakroom options to larger statement pieces, there's a wide choice of shapes, sizes and finishes, including classic white ceramic and more distinctive colours. Enjoy free standard UK delivery on orders over £499.
Unlike inset basins, countertop bathroom sinks are made to be seen. Sitting above the surface, they create a more striking look and can completely change the feel of your space. Whether you prefer clean, simple shapes or something more eye-catching, a countertop vessel basin is an easy way to get a look that really works in your bathroom.
Bathroom countertop basins are designed to work with vanity units and worktops, giving you space around the basin for everyday essentials while helping to keep things tidy and contained. They’re typically paired with high rise taps or wall mounted basin taps, so it’s important to choose compatible fittings when planning your layout.

FAQ's
Also known as vessel basins, countertop basins are one of the most popular basin designs that can make a big impact in your bathroom. If you are on the fence about opting for a countertop basin, these are some of the things that you should consider.
Can I fit a countertop basin on any vanity unit or worktop?
Not every surface will be suitable. The vanity unit, worktop or floating basin shelf, must be flat, stable and able to support the basin's weight. It also needs enough space for both the basin and tap, with suitable access for the waste and pipework below.
You can fit some countertop basins to bespoke or repurposed furniture, but check that the surface can withstand moisture and be cut safely without weakening it. If you are unsure, ask a qualified installer to assess it before making any alterations.

How do I choose the right size countertop basin?
Measure the width and depth of your vanity unit, worktop or shelf, then compare these measurements with the basin's overall dimensions. Allow enough surface around the bowl for the tap and any toiletries, as well as suitable clearance from walls and nearby fittings.
Check the internal size and depth of the bowl too. A compact countertop basin can suit a smaller bathroom or cloakroom, but it still needs to provide enough room for comfortable handwashing. The bowl's shape and depth, together with the tap's position and flow, will also affect splashing.
What tap and waste do I need for a countertop basin?
If the basin has no tap hole, you will usually need a tall basin mixer fitted to the worktop or a wall mounted basin tap. If it has an integrated tap hole, a standard basin mixer may be suitable.
Check the tap's height, spout reach and water pressure requirements before ordering. The water should flow towards the centre of the bowl, with enough clearance beneath the spout for comfortable use. A deck mounted tap will also need enough space behind or beside the basin.
The correct waste depends on whether the basin has an overflow. A basin with an overflow usually needs a slotted waste, while one without an overflow needs an unslotted waste. Our guide to slotted and unslotted basin wastes explains the difference. Check the product details too, as taps and wastes may need to be purchased separately.
