Countertop Basins
Countertop basins sit on top of a worktop or vanity unit, making them a great way to add a statement focal point to your bathroom. From small cloakroom options to larger statement pieces, there's a wide choice of shapes, sizes and finishes, including classic white ceramic and more distinctive colours. Enjoy free standard UK delivery on orders over £499.
Unlike inset basins, countertop bathroom sinks are made to be seen. Sitting above the surface, they create a more striking look and can completely change the feel of your space. Whether you prefer clean, simple shapes or something more eye-catching, a countertop vessel basin is an easy way to get a look that really works in your bathroom.
Bathroom countertop basins are designed to work with vanity units and worktops, giving you space around the basin for everyday essentials while helping to keep things tidy and contained. They’re typically paired with high rise taps or wall mounted basin taps, so it’s important to choose compatible fittings when planning your layout.

FAQ's
Countertop basins are of the most popular basin designs that can make a big impact in your bathroom. If you are on the fence about opting for a countertop basin, these are some of the things that you should consider
What is a countertop basin?
A countertop basin, also known as a vessel basin, sits on top of a vanity unit, worktop or suitable shelf rather than being fitted into the surface. As the bowl sits above the worktop, it can stand out more than other basin styles and comes in a wide choice of shapes, sizes and finishes.
Where can I place a countertop basin?
A countertop basin can sit on a suitable vanity unit, worktop or floating basin shelf, so you've got plenty of choice when planning the basin area. They can also be fitted to bespoke or repurposed furniture, as long as the surface is suitable and there's enough room for the basin and plumbing.
Vessel basins can work well in smaller bathrooms and cloakrooms too. Just make sure you check the basin's width and depth, how much worktop space it will take up and whether there's enough room around it for your tap and other fittings.
How do I choose the right size countertop basin?
The right size depends on how much room you have and how much of the worktop you want the vessel basin to take up. Measure your vanity unit, worktop or shelf, then check the countertop basin's overall width and depth as well as the size of the bowl.
It's worth leaving some space around the basin too, especially if you keep soap, toothbrushes or other bits nearby. In a smaller bathroom, a compact basin can work well, but make sure the bowl still gives you enough room to wash your hands without splashing water everywhere.
What tap and waste do I need for a countertop basin?
It depends on the basin you choose. If it has no tap hole, you'll usually need a tall basin mixer fitted to the worktop or a wall mounted tap. If the basin has its own tap hole, a standard basin mixer may be suitable. Before you buy, check the height of the tap, as well as how far the spout reaches, so the water lands well inside the bowl.
For the waste, check whether the basin has an overflow. Countertop basins with an overflow usually need a slotted basin waste, while those without one normally need an unslotted waste. Some countertop basins come with a waste included, so have a look at the product details before ordering anything separately.
