Shower Handsets

What are the different types of shower handset?

There are several types of shower handset to choose from, with various features designed to suit your showering preferences:

• Deck mounted shower handsets are fitted directly to the bath or another suitable surface, rather than being mounted on the wall. They can be a practical choice for baths where you want a handheld shower next to your bath taps, and can be pulled out and used when needed.
• Eco / water saving shower handsets are designed to reduce water consumption while still providing an effective spray. Many use flow-regulating technology to limit the water usage without compromising on performance. Some water saving handsets also combine this feature with multiple spray settings, giving you greater control over your shower.
• LED shower handsets add a modern, high-tech touch to your bathroom design. These handsets use LED lighting in the shower head to set the mood while you shower.
• Multi-function shower handsets allow you to switch between different spray patterns. Depending on the model, settings can include different spray intensities and patterns, making them a versatile choice for everyday showering.
• Rainfall shower handsets are designed to create a more gentle, immersive showering experience, mimicking natural rainfall. They're a good choice if you prefer a softer, wider spray, and larger handsets can also be used as your main shower head rather than simply as an addition to an overhead shower.

Can any shower handset fit any shower?

In the UK there is a universal size for shower pipes and shower heads meaning any shower handset should fit your current set up. However, it is important to take into consideration water pressure and water systems to ensure your new shower handset is compatible with the plumbing in your home.

What are the benefits of a handheld shower hose?

There are a few benefits to a handheld shower hose:

• It gives you greater control and accuracy with the direction of your spray. As the shower is not fixed in one place, this gives you greater control over the direction of water spray which is useful for everyday showering as well as cleaning the shower and even washing pets!
• Due to a smaller and more controlled flow of water, handheld showers can be more eco friendly and limit your water consumption.
• Having some versatility in your shower experience is also a nice benefit with handheld shower hoses. Being able to switch between an overhead shower and a handheld one adds that extra touch of luxury to your shower routine!

Is it possible to add a handheld shower to an existing fixed shower?

It is certainly possible to add a shower handset to a fixed shower. There are a few ways to go about this. You can replace an overhead shower with a handheld shower by adding a bracket and attaching the handheld shower hose to the pipe where the showerhead was previously fitted.

Alternatively, a handset shower can be combined with an overhead shower set up, but additional adaptors and potentially plumbing work will be required.
