What taps do I need for a 2 tap hole basin?

You'll usually need a pair of separate hot and cold basin taps, such as pillar taps. There are plenty of modern and traditional designs to choose from, so having two tap holes doesn’t mean you're limited to a traditional-looking bathroom. Just make sure the taps are designed to fit the basin before you buy.

 

What's the difference between a 1 and 2 hole basin?

A one hole basin is usually made for a single mixer tap, with hot and cold water coming through one spout. A two hole basin has separate hot and cold taps instead. If you prefer a separate spout with individual hot and cold controls, take a look at our three hole basins too.

 

Can I replace my existing 2 hole basin with a new one?

Usually, yes. Measure your old basin first and check where the tap holes sit, particularly if you want to keep your existing taps. It's also worth checking the width and depth of the new basin so you know it'll fit the space without causing problems with the plumbing or furniture around it.

 

Is the spacing between tap holes the same on every basin?

No. The distance between the two tap holes can vary from one basin to another. If you already have taps you want to keep, check the spacing on the new two hole bathroom sink before you buy rather than assuming they'll line up.
