Bower Universal Kitchen Sink Basket Strainer Waste Brushed Brass

Stylish and well built

27th April 2025

Nice classy finish. Only issue was a bit tricky getting the overflow in the correct position with a circular hole in the sink and the overflow pipe behind being rectangular not square- was a two person job.

Venice Double Bowl Belfast Composite Kitchen Sink + Chrome Wastes Large Image

Sides are flared

25th April 2025

This is a lovely sink, but what you can’t see from the photos or description is that the sides are flared, not vertical. This means it won’t fit against your joining cupboards without a gap - don’t buy it unless it’s for a freestanding unit!

FAQ's

Because you use them on a regular basis, for a variety of tasks such as food preparation and cleaning the dishes, kitchen sinks are one of the most important features of your home so it makes sense to choose something which is practical and meets all the requirements you have.

But how will you know what's right for you? With so many kitchen sinks for sale to pick from, it might seem a bit confusing at first but, in this guide, we'll detail all the info you need to make a more informed purchase.

What types of kitchen sinks are there?

There are a wide variety of kitchen sinks, with certain types more suitable for specific tasks. Firstly, they differ in terms of the number of bowls. Single bowl sinks are available in a wide range of designs and are ideal if you live alone or the kitchen isn't particularly big as they won't take up as much room as other options. Double bowl sinks, on the other hand, offer greater flexibility in managing tasks, allowing you to multitask efficiently. They're perfect for larger households or kitchens where various culinary activities occur simultaneously.

Secondly, not all kitchen sinks are fitted the same way. Under-mounted sinks, as the name suggests, are fitted to the underside of your worktop, making them ideal for matching with wooden or granite worktops. Sinks can also be flush mounted, while inset sinks sit with their edges just atop the work surface.

Are all kitchen sinks a standard size?

No, kitchen sinks can vary quite considerably in size. Single bowl sinks are usually much smaller and compact than something like a Belfast sink, which are a lot deeper. Single bowl sinks may extend up to 33 inches in width, while larger sinks can reach widths of up to 60 inches. As for depth, most sinks range between 8 and 10 inches, with the 8 inch depth being ideal for daily tasks, while a 10 inch depth offers more space for larger items like pots and pans.

What is the most durable kitchen sink material?

There are plenty of different materials used for kitchen sinks, each with its own advantages. Stainless steel sinks are tough and easy to maintain, as well as being cheaper than other options. Ceramic sinks have an elegant appearance that will complement a wide range of kitchens, but aren't necessarily the most durable. Granite sinks are perhaps the most durable and robust, as well as being resistant to stains.

Is it easy to replace a kitchen sink?

Replacing a kitchen sink can be an easy task, especially if your new sink is the same type and size as the one that is being replaced. If you can't use your existing water supply pipes or waste outlet, or are looking to replace a small sink with a much larger option, then installing a kitchen sink can become a more difficult task.
