Buying Guide

Whilst being a practical method of storage for bathroom accessories, bathroom vanities provide an impressive flair that helps implement the aesthetic tone of your bathroom.

Victorian Plumbing’s freestanding vanity units provide a particular seamlessness that suit both modern and traditional bathrooms.

What is a freestanding vanity unit?

Freestanding vanity units stand directly on the ground, typically supported by four legs, and are designed to function as an independent piece of bathroom furniture. Freestanding bathroom cabinets require no additional support or furniture to stand.

Vanity units provide two main functions in your bathroom: to house your bathroom sink and to provide you with adequate storage. Freestanding vanity units are amongst the most robust bathroom cabinets, as well as providing some of the most practical storage available.

What are the benefits of having a freestanding vanity unit?

Freestanding bathroom storage is often superior to the storage provided by floating or wall hung storage cabinets and vanities. With freestanding bathroom vanities, bathroom cupboard space is the most common type of storage provided. However, many freestanding vanity cabinets also provide drawer storage and even open shelving.

Due to their solitary nature, freestanding bathroom cabinets are available in a huge variety of sizes. As they don?t rely on other bathroom furniture, this allows you to make the decision for sizing based solely on your personal needs. If you have limited space, a single cupboard freestanding vanity will be less invasive. If you have a large amount of bathroom floor space available, a wide vanity unit featuring open shelving, drawers, and cupboards would fill your bathroom space perfectly.

Freestanding vanity units also come in a variety of designs. As they are independent in nature, they can be that unique piece of furniture in your bathroom. However, many of the freestanding bathroom cabinets we provide are part of a modular furniture set. This means that if you want all of your bathroom furniture to maintain a consistent theme, this can be achieved with a freestanding unit also.

Do I need to attach the freestanding vanity to my wall?

Whilst attaching your freestanding unit to the wall is not necessary for structural support, it is recommended that you secure your vanity unit to the wall the basin is plumbed into. This is because once the plumbing is secure, you don’t want to risk the vanity moving overtime as this could damage or impact the pipework.
