Revive 2 Gang Switched Socket - Antique Brass Large Image

Perfectly matching!

19th December 2025

I love that I bought the switches and sockets (both 1 and 2 gang) from Ellis and Co. It’s all perfectly matching and I’m very happy with that. Be warned, they don’t feel as heavy as normal metal light switches and I’m not sure why but I’m ok with that.

Revive 2 Gang Switched Socket Single Pole - White

Nice product but not white

8th November 2025

We ordered a couple of different types of switches and sockets from this Ellis & Co brand, and they are not white! They looked okay in the package, so we were not very concerned, but on a white wall (Dulux - Brilliant White), they appeared beige/light grey when the electrician started putting them up.

FAQ's

Got questions about plug sockets? You’re not alone. From what “gang” actually means to when it’s time for a replacement, here’s everything you need to know to keep things safe and running smoothly.

What does "gang" mean in relation to sockets?

"Gang" refers to how many sockets are on one faceplate. A 1 gang socket has one plug outlet, while a 2 gang socket has two outlets side by side. Each outlet works independently, which is why twin (2 gang) sockets are so common in busy rooms where you need to power more than one device at a time.

Can you install a plug socket yourself?

You can replace an existing plug socket yourself if you’re confident with DIY and know how to work safely. However, you must turn off the power and double-check the circuit is dead before you start. However, adding a brand new socket (where one didn’t previously exist) counts as electrical work that should be installed and tested by a qualified electrician.

How often should wall sockets be replaced?

Wall sockets don’t last forever. On average, a good quality socket can last around 15 to 25 years, but heavy use, heat and general wear can cause them to age faster. You should replace a socket sooner if you notice loose plugs, buzzing, scorch marks, flickering power or if it feels warm to the touch; these are all signs the internal components are wearing out.
