Aqualona Profile Shower Curtain

22nd February 2024

We bought an Aqualona Profile Shower Curtain track and hooks. Overall the product is okay apart from the hooks being a bit too thin. Would snap easily if pulled too hard as is the case when attempting to close and open the shower curtain as the hooks stick where the joints are in the rail and they get caught easily. But overall it was easy to install and the ceiling bracket is perfect to hold the rail steady and level when fitted.

FAQ's

When redesigning your bathroom, something like a shower rail might seem like a minor detail. Instead, try to look at it like the finishing touches to the final product.

Curved shower rails are a practical yet unique asset to a bathroom space and complement the traditional aesthetic of a freestanding bath greatly.

What?s the difference between curved and straight shower rails?

A curved shower rail comes in two forms. The first is a rail that goes from wall to wall with an outward curve pointing away from the bath space. The aim of this curve is to provide you with that additional space when bathing or showering.

The second is a circular or oval shaped rail that is suspended over a freestanding bath. This rail will encompass the entire span of the bath and provide you with privacy when using the space.

A straight shower rail, much like the first type of curved shower rail, also goes wall to wall. This is typically reserved for baths that have contact with the wall at either end.

What are the benefits of a curved shower rail?

From a functional perspective, curved shower rails definitely provide you with more room and better privacy when showering and bathing. When using a curved shower rail you can be less concerned about the shower curtain clinging to you when wet, allowing you to turn and move more freely in the space.

They also do a better job at keeping the water in your bath. The oval designs allow the curtain to follow and cover the edge of the bath closer, preventing water from spilling out.

From a visual perspective, a curved shower rail will be sure to add character to your bathroom as this is definitely a distinctive piece of furniture. Especially for those looking to replicate a traditional bathroom, a curved shower rail and freestanding bath combination is a timeless classic.

Do I need a special shower curtain for a curved rail?

As wall-to-wall curved shower rails are typically longer than a straight shower rail, you might want to go for a larger size in curtain. You can still use a normal shower curtain, however, you will have slightly less free fabric.

When it comes to oval rails that go over a freestanding bath, these arrangements will require two shower curtains if you want them to completely encompass your bath.

How do I measure for a curved shower rail?

  • Firstly, identify the desired height for your curved rail on both walls by using a tape measure. Be sure to align the positioning of your marks with the edge of your bath.
  • Mark your placement with a pencil.
  • Take your measuring tape again and measure the distance from wall to wall, making sure that this lines up with both marks you?ve made. Lock your measuring tape at this length.
  • Place your curved shower rail flat on the floor and hook the measuring tape over one end of it. Put the length of your measuring tape against the shower rail so the two parts form the letter "D".
  • Extend or shorten the length of the shower rail until its other end meets the length measured on your tape measure perfectly.

  •
