Having the man servicing your boiler ask to use the loo and then emerge with the seat and lid in fragments in his hands was a mixed blessing: good because it was not of good quality and the soft close mechanism failed within 3 months of installation : bad because choosing a replacement of the correct size and shape particularly when you have no idea of the make of the lavatory pan is like looking for a needle in a haystack. Took me 2 solid days of internet research with countless trips to the loo with a tape measure, professional advice sought from architect and hydraulic engineer sons (the expert advice being “measure it”!) until this Burlington came to notice. It looked right, the measurements seemed ok, it was the most e expensive one available which might fit….story of my life but you do get what you pay for I reasoned so with some trepidation I placed the order. It arrived almost instantly, was easy to fit, fits perfectly, functions perfectly, is so comfortable that I’m now getting pins and needles in my feet for sitting there too long, and the soft close is obviously well engineered and robust. In short, it’s perfect and highly recommended. One downside though: I’m in constant trouble for leaving the seat up as the said soft close is very gentle and takes its time. When she who must be obeyed is taken short and rushes in to use the facilities, she has to wait hopping from foot to foot In desperation until the lid completes its leisurely descent. I tell her she could pass the time by mopping the floor in front of the wc pan after I’ve used it. I won’t go into detail to avoid self-incrimination. Suffice it to say, that another issue for which I am in constant trouble. To conclude: excellent product…couldn’t better it!
