Is your bathroom looking a bit tired? Want to freshen things up without breaking the bank? Adding a new shower curtain is one of the quickest, budget-friendly ways to update your bathroom. Just like the shower enclosure, the curtain is designed to keep water off your floor. If you want to prevent any water escaping from your shower, it’s important to buy the right size and fit.
Before you shop for your new shower curtain it’s important that you measure the width and height of the area surrounding your bath/shower, this might seem like an obvious point but a lot of people overlook this step. If you don’t have a curtain rail in place already, then decide where you would like it fitted and measure that area before you buy anything.
Is it waterproof?
The majority of shower curtains are waterproof, but just double check the manufacturer’s label. There are a variety of shades, patterns and styles available. We suggest choosing a design that will suit the style of your bathroom for a cohesive look.
How to keep it clean
Maintenance is a key aspect for increasing the lifespan of your shower curtain. They are prone to mildew growing on them if not cared for properly. This is due to the sheer amount of water, body oil and soap scum that come in contact with them; combine this with humidity and you have a breeding ground for bacteria! To avoid the build-up of mildew keep it clean after every shower by keeping the curtain fully closed and wiping down any excess and allowing the curtain to dry fully before drawing it back. A lot of shower curtains are now easy to maintain by washing machine, again just double check the label that it is machine washable.
Shower curtain hooks
There are little extras you can add for a statement look. Shower curtain hooks / rings can add a nice finishing touch to your shower curtain, there a bit like adding a piece of jewellery to an outfit! If adding shower hooks doesn't appeal to you, you can get designs with loops already put in.
