FAQ's

Digital showers give you precise control over temperature, water flow and settings, all from a centralised digital control unit. From understanding the advantages they offer to finding out the differences between digital and electric showers, explore how digital showers function with these frequently asked questions.

What are the advantages of having a digital shower?

Digital showers have technological features that separate them from other types of shower. High tech home equipment is centred around making life easier and more comfortable for the user, and this is exactly the edge that digital showers provide.

Digital showers allow you to control the temperature, water flow, spray setting, and many other features for your shower all from an independent control unit. This control unit can be an app on your smart device, a thermostat installed into your bathroom wall, or a remote control.

With the ability to control all these variants before you even step foot in the shower, digital showers provide you with the most customizable experience. With the ability to create pre-saved personalised shower settings from your independent control unit, there's no need to fiddle with shower valves until you find the right water flow and temperature. With digital showers, your ideal shower is ready at the push of a button.

What is the difference between a digital shower and electric shower?

Whilst an electric shower takes water solely from the cold water supply, a digital shower takes water from both the hot and cold water supplies.

Electric showers can take water from the cold water supply because they have an internal heating element that can reach your desired shower temperature, cutting the need to utilise the hot water supply provided by a boiler.

A digital shower is essentially the high-tech version of a mixer shower. This means that it utilises both the hot and cold water supplies in your home to create the temperature you have set for your shower.

How do digital showers work?

Digital showers work by controlling the temperature through an internal digital-thermostat concealed within the shower unit. This internal thermostat is controlled by you remotely, whether it be through an app, remote control unit or wall outlet.

If a digital shower utilities a wall thermostat, this will communicate with your shower via internal cables installed into your bathroom . If your digital shower utilises an app or remote control unit, this will communicate wirelessly with your shower unit via bluetooth connection.

Should I choose a concealed or an exposed digital shower?

With the ability to control your shower remotely, this makes the need for shower valves somewhat obsolete. Whilst digital showers do still come with shower valves to use should you need to make adjustments, from an aesthetic standpoint you might want the theme to be as discreet as possible.

This is where the difference between digital showers with concealed valves and digital showers with exposed valves comes in. A shower with exposed shower valves will have the whole of the shower valve and pipework visible. In contrast, a shower with a concealed valve will have all of this hidden behind your bathroom tiles as this is all installed into your wall. This means that just the handles, shower head, and potentially the shower hose are visible.

Having concealed or exposed shower valves won't impact the functionality of your shower. This choice is purely an aesthetic one to help you execute the vision you have for your bathroom.
