"My passion for interiors and vintage objects began at an early age through working alongside my father, an antique restorer. After studying Interior Architecture & Design, I honed my skills as a kitchen and bathroom designer, prioritising meaningful design on each of his projects."

Who is Matt Smith-Wood?
Inspired by Brutalist architecture and the interplay of light and shadow, Matt creates spaces that seamlessly blend functionality with aesthetics. He pulls from natural materials, modern art, Japanese furniture and tactile materials to curate his distinctive, sophisticated and contemporary aesthetic which aims to be fully immersive.
Following his success as a finalist on Interior Design Masters, Matt has taken time to define his interior design practice. His first project to launch is in association with the Standard Hotel Lisbon, an apartment commissioned by a private client but designed in conjunction with the hotel.

The Collections
Throughout the making of this collaboration, Matt shared his processes for tile pairing and picking the best tiles for your home.
Some of Matt’s favourite designs include stone effect, terrazzo and textured tiles, particularly the Otsu Concave Kit-Kat Mosaic in Barn Red from the Stonehouse Studio collection. As a fan of its glossy finish, Matt explains that the Otsu tile adds an ‘architectural, contemporary touch’. Matt’s key pieces are carefully selected to bring ‘balance, contrast and a tactile experience’, creating spaces that feel both naturally welcoming and intentionally chic.
