Duravit Starck 2 Soft Close Toilet Seat

How Victoria Plumbing/Duravit can justify nearly £200 for this item is completely beyond me. Unfortunately, no other make would fit, which presumably is the intention, and so I had to buy this replacement.

Customer service second to none. Speedy delivery and very well packaged products give confidence to the quality of this operation. The only downside for me was the price - £190 for a toilet seat! However this appears to be the going rate for this particular brand, which I couldn’t find cheaper elsewhere, so whilst I have scored this element 4 stars, it does not reflect poorly on VP at all, just the market. Thank you.

It’s too expensive just for a toilet seat

I have just read the review saying the seat cracking. Which it does/did. I have just ordered a new seat to replace a cracked one. The problem is a design fault. The seat is fitted with the four usual plastic/rubber stoppers/bungs/feet - whatever the correct technical name. The two nearest the back of the seat don't touch the top of the toilet rim. As this is where most of the weight lands, over time it cracks under stress. Easy fix - just install slightly thicker rubber bungs/feet - whatever. The last one lasted about 15 years of regular use so hopefully this one will survive for some time.

This is easy to install and looks good and operates well. But it is so over priced. There is also a flaw to watch out for. They can have a tendency to break in the same place. As you look at it, it is always on the right towards the back - on a clock face it would be about 2:30'ish. It is always outside of guarantee - the manufacturer must know about this - I am hoping it is fixed on this one 🤞
