Tricky to Fit
19th January 2019Once fitted to the basin it looks great but there were a number of things that made fitting more tricky than it needed to be: - The ‘instructions’ for fitting were just a few generic comments and an exploded diagram, the same as you can download from the website. - The 3 tap holes on my basin were not in a straight line. This meant I carefully had to bend the brass tubes that connect the tap tails to the mixer. These are a non-standard 12mm in diameter, but I did manage to bend them with my 15mm pipe bender. It did flatten the bend slightly. We will see if it is watertight when I plumb it in... - The ceramic discs with the tap labels on are held into the top of the tap by a brass bush. The bush for the pop up waste is extremely shallow and impossible to tighten fully - I suspect it will keep coming out and at some point I will have to resort to gluing it in place. - The tap tail nuts are a non-standard size, just slightly bigger than my basin wrench. Eventually I managed to tighten them with a large adjustable spanner, but with limited access it was pretty awkward. - There were no washers to go under the tap domes on top of the sink - I just had to use silicone. And the washers underneath were flat, not domed, making it harder to keep the tap centred over the hole in the basin as the nut was tightened. All in all a quite frustrating experience, and not what I would expect for a tap that costs this much.
