how do you get plug out to clean

HI, This plug unscrews for you to be able to clean, Thank you

this says suitable for baths up to 3mm thick. my bath is 4mm acrylic plus a reinforcement layer that must be a few more mm. does that mean this is not suitable?

Unfortunately yes. The limit relates to the amount of thread protruding through the waste hole in the bath to allow the underside fitting to attach securely
