Chrome Bar Hinge Set for Wooden Toilet Seats

The hinge bar arrived promptly, well packaged. We got it to fit a wooden toilet seat/lid for a retro Sanitan toilet pan. The screw holes on the hinges did not exactly match the old holes on the toilet seat/lid, which had to be filled and new holes drilled. The old holes were not visible after the new hinges were fitted. The chrome tube that holds the hinges is only 160mm long and we needed 185mm. The same chrome bar does not seem to be available on the market but we managed to get some stainless steel rod cut to size instead. The whole job was a bit more complicated than we anticipated but very much less stressful than trying to get a new wooden toilet seat of the correct size and hugely less expensive than buying a new retro wooden toilet seat. On the whole we are very pleased with the result.

total rubbish broke first day

Changing the toilet connectors was straightforward though the bar and seat connectors were not quite the right size to update all parts of the connection. But the successful part was all that really mattered. Thank you.

I didn’t review straight after purchase as I wanted to see if it was as sturdy as it appeared to be. It is great; toilet seat has remained in the correct place and not moved. Perfect!

Seems very well-made, very slightly different to the one that it replaced, fitted it anyway with tiny adjustment. Good overall.
