Strong and Comfortable Corner Shower Stool
25th August 2026In 2020 I bought another make of Corner Shower Stool which another mobility shop said could stand a Maximum Weight of 20 Stone. Despite never being greater than 15 and a half Stone the plastic seat broke 5 different times. I had 4 replacements seats but gave up when the last replacement broke. The metal frame itself was fine. I replaced that Corner Shower Stool with this Drive DeVilbiss Belmont Corner Shower Stool because the Maximum Weight Capacity given on victorianplumbing.co.uk was 26 Stone. Since using the Belmont Corner Shower Stool, I feel more secure it won't break and have been using it ever since I bought it earlier this year 2026. It is quite comfortable and I will continue to use it in preference to my old one, but I have certain minor criticisms that might help the manufacturers improve on the stool. Firstly, the minimum height is 51 cm which I find just too high to reach down my legs and clean my feet while sitting on the seat. I have to bring my legs up which makes sitting unstable. The minimum height of my old Corner Shower Stool was 47 cm and I found it easier to clean my feet reaching down from that height. Secondly, the width of the seat could be a little wider for a feeling of stability. Thirdly, the seat does accumulate shower water. Rather than having drainage holes that can weaken the seat, the seat could be fixed to a hinge so the seat could be hinged up after the shower to drain of the water. Despite these criticisms, I still intend to use my Belmont Corner Shower Stool every day.
