lesson learned - open the box when you receive it (pt 1)
Item was damaged and glaze incomplete - both can be hidden, the chip is on the underside and will be covered by the semi-pedestal, the incomplete glaze hidden by silicone, not the end of the world but as I didn't inspect it immediately I didn't return it.
