Dual Fuel Towel Rails

Dual fuel towel rails connect to your central heating but also include an electric element. Use them with your heating during colder months, then switch to electric when the central heating is off. That makes dual fuel towel radiators handy when you still want warm towels or some bathroom warmth on milder days.

When choosing a dual fuel towel rail, start with the size and heat output your bathroom needs, then check the electric element and controls. Depending on the model, you may have a simple on/off element or a thermostatic option. Always make sure the towel rail, element and valves are designed to work together.

Choose from straight and curved ladder dual fuel towel rails, designer models and traditional column-style towel radiators. Our range includes compact and taller sizes in finishes such as chrome, black, white, anthracite and brushed brass, so dual fuel doesn't limit the style you can choose.

FAQ's

Dual fuel towel rails give you two ways to warm your towel rail, but there are a few things to check before you buy. These FAQs cover how it works, which element you need, installation and whether an existing towel radiator can be converted.

What is a dual fuel towel rail?

A dual fuel towel rail connects to your central heating and also has an electric heating element. This means you can use it with the rest of your heating or warm it independently using electricity when the central heating is switched off.

What's the difference between dual fuel and electric towel rails?

A dual fuel towel rail can run from both central heating and an electric element. An electric towel rail runs solely on electricity and doesn't connect to your central heating pipework. Dual fuel makes sense if you want both options from the same radiator, while electric-only is better suited to rooms where you don't need or want a central heating connection.

What's the difference between standard and thermostatic heating elements?

A standard element usually gives you straightforward electric heating, while a thermostatic element lets you control the temperature more closely. Some models also offer additional settings, so check exactly what’s included with the element or dual fuel kit you're considering. Remember that the element also needs to be suitable for the specific towel radiator you're fitting. The correct wattage depends on the radiator, so check the manufacturer’s specification or recommended element rather than choosing on wattage alone.

Can I convert an existing towel radiator to dual fuel?

Some centrally heated towel radiators can be converted by adding a compatible electric element and the correct valves or fittings. Not every towel radiator is suitable, though, so check the manufacturer's requirements before buying any additional parts.

Does a dual fuel towel rail need professional installation?

Yes. As a dual fuel towel rail connects to both your central heating and the electricity supply, you'll usually need a plumber and a qualified electrician to fit it.
