how does the flushing mechanism work

Hi, the urinals are connected to a cistern, then there's a few methods of flushing. This could be on a timer, or sensor, but most common run on a pressure switch so when there is a change in the pressure i.e the taps being turned on the cistern will flush. Thanks!
