Installing electrical products in bathrooms

This product must be installed in accordance with the latest version of BS7671: 2008. If in any doubt consult a qualified electrician. IPX4 SPLASH PROOF – All our mirrors, cabinets (fitted with a light) are splash proof and suitable for zone 2

Diagrams for bathroom with bath and bathroom with shower tray splash zones

Zone 0 is the smallest volume that contains the bathtub, shower basin, etc.
Zone 1 is the area above Zone 0, up to a height of 2.25 m above the floor.
Zone 2 is the area above Zone 1 up to a height of 3 m, as well as the area that is horizontally within 0.6 m from Zone 1.
If the space under the bath cannot be accessed without using a tool, then that space is considered un-zoned.

Bathroom Lighting

Safety is the main concern when considering bathroom lighting. Bathrooms are divided into Zones 0, 1 and 2, based on their like exposure to water. Only use light fittings in the zone for which they are designed. Diffused ceiling or wall lights are a good option. The main light should be switched on by a pull cord or a switch outside the bathroom. Please note: The classification of bathroom zones has changed. Zone 3 no longer exists, but references to it may still appear on product packaging.

Good Quality Mirror
Very happy overall, but LED have quite low emittance. Have to come quite close to get the light on the face.

6 Questions

Is the glass mirror suitable for shaving and how do u switch it on?

Asked by Mr Odin

ANSWER

Stuart replied on 2nd January 2015

This mirror doesn't have a shaver socket. It is switched on by lightly touching the small button below the 7 square lights on the left panel of the unit. This unit uses LED's rather than a bulb which usually last, on average, 10,000 hours.

Is this cabinet include a shawer socket?

No restriction, you should be able to fit this in your washroom with noproblems.

Does this cabinet require any clearance on the right hand side due to it being touch sensitive?

Asked by DJ

ANSWER

Sue replied on 14th August 2013

the touch sensitive lights are operated from the front. so this wont be effected on the right hand side.

I'm thinking of building this into a recess in a stud wall. How does the door unlatch - I.e. do you need to get your fingers under or around the mirror to pull it open or do you push the front inwards against a magnetic catch?

Asked by P

ANSWER

vikki replied on 9th July 2013

Hi. The door opening on the Enigma mirror cabinet has a push opening. this has a small magnetic catch to open and close. Hope this helps.
