Electric Towel Radiators
Our electric towel rails let you warm towels without relying on the central heating, so you can switch them on when you need them throughout the year. Most of the range is electric only, with everything from straightforward heated rails to models with thermostats and smart controls. These electric heated towel rails are practical way to keep towels warm while heating only the space you need.
When choosing an electric towel radiator, sart with the space you have. Vertical rails make good use of narrower walls, while horizontal designs work across wider sections. Our electric heated towel radiators come in different heights, widths and finishes, including chrome, black, white, anthracite and brass. With both modern and traditional designs, you can find one that fits the room as well as the look.
Think about what you want the electric towel rail to do before choosing. If it’s mainly for warming towels, your needs may be different from someone who also wants to add heat to the bathroom. Check the size and heat output for your space, while selected thermostatic electric towel rails let you adjust the temperature. Some models also offer digital or smart controls.

My new towel rail
1st August 2026An easy fit and looks great in an en-suite WC & shower. Pumps out a lot of heat and is far superior to the towel rail it replaced. It’s going to be toasty in the winter!

FAQ's
Choosing an electric towel rail comes down to more than just the look. Size, heat output, controls and whether you want to warm towels or add heat to the room all matter. Our FAQs cover the key things to know before you choose, from running costs and room heating to thermostats and dual fuel options.
How do electric towel rails work?
An electric towel rail uses an electric heating element to warm the rail without relying on your central heating. Once installed, you can switch it on when you need it, although the controls vary by model. Some electric towel radiators also include a thermostat, letting you adjust the temperature to suit you.
Will an electric towel rail heat my bathroom?
An electric towel rail can help heat your bathroom as well as warm and dry towels, but its output may differ from a traditional radiator. In a smaller bathroom or en-suite, the right model may provide enough heat on its own. Check the rail's dimensions against your available wall space, then use our guide to calculate the right BTU for your room before you choose.
Are electric towel radiators expensive to run?
Electric towel radiators generally cost more per unit of heat than a standard heated towel rail connected to gas central heating, as electricity costs more per kWh than gas. However, you can run an electric towel rail independently, so there’s no need to turn on the central heating just to warm your towels. The actual running cost depends on the rail’s wattage, how long you use it and your electricity tariff.
How long does an electric towel radiator take to dry a towel?
An electric towel radiator will typically take around 3 to 5 hours to dry a bath towel. Thicker or wetter towels may take longer, especially if the room is cool or several towels are on the rail at once. Spread towels out rather than bunching them together to help them dry more evenly.
Do electric heated towel rails cause damp?
Electric heated towel rails don’t create damp. By helping wet towels dry more quickly, they can reduce the amount of moisture left sitting in the bathroom. They can also add warmth to the room, but good ventilation is still important for keeping condensation, mould and mildew under control.
