Unveiling The Stylish New VP Lounge

Our new staff lounge features a retro-Americana theme. Join us for the grand tour!

Here at Victorian Plumbing we like to consider ourselves a creative bunch, so we recently decided that it would be a good idea to add a bit of personality to our Formby offices. With that in mind a plan was hatched to create a chill out area for members of staff – somewhere to go on break times to relax and mingle with fellow co-workers. But we didn’t want this new space to be just your regular, boring rec room; something rather special had to be constructed…

Choosing a theme

With creative engines running, the wheels were set in motion for a retro-Americana theme with a heavy Route 66 influence running throughout. Thanks to our stunning new showroom now being fully stocked; the area where the old one used to be provided the perfect space to build our funky new staff lounge.

Work soon began on the project, and things quickly began to take shape, with an abundance of exciting fixtures and fittings being installed in quick succession, transforming the entire area. The overall design of the lounge has a rustic, industrial feel which has been achieved by using various materials including a repurposed-effect wooden ceiling, brick effect wallpaper print and those achingly trendy low hanging metal lamp shades.

Besides this there are, of course, numerous pieces of Route 66 memorabilia dotted around the room, as well as other cool little vintage details which you can see in the photographs.

The benefits of the VP Lounge

With the VP Lounge now open, it provides employees with a relaxation station; somewhere to take a quick break away from the busy phones, meetings and general daily duties. The quirky surroundings are in stark contrast with the rest of the office, allowing people to truly escape and unwind for a while. It features a coffee bar and vending machines so chilling out on the comfy sofas and watching a little daytime TV is now something we can all enjoy (when we aren’t hard at work of course!)

This new addition is already proving to be a hit, in fact some of our employees have taken it upon themselves to host informal mini meetings in the lounge, where they’ve been able to brainstorm new ideas in a cosy and relaxed environment. We also found it to be the perfect place to hold our Macmillan coffee morning on International Coffee Day - below is an image of the cakes which we shared over on LinkedIn; needless to say, these didn’t last very long!

Mark, our Managing Director, said: “The idea behind the Route 66 theme was to create a smart area for our employees to meet up and chill out during their break times. It reflects the fun side of the company and we think that our staff will appreciate the benefits it brings.
