You get 975 bathtimes with your little one - make every splash count.

you'll give your child 975 baths in their lifetime

Bubbles, splashes, and giggles - bathtime is full of little moments that matter. And they’re not just for cleanliness; your child’s bathtime routine helps cognitive development such as mathematics as well as important sensory development [1]. Beyond this, it’s a precious time for parents to connect, bond, and create lasting memories with their child.

Children grow up so fast, often meaning small milestones pass in the blink of an eye. Bathtime in particular is something we may take for granted, yet it’s a treasured time where laughter, learning, and stories collide. Before you know it, their little hand that once clutched their favourite bath toy will be busy turning locks and wanting privacy.

Here at Victorian Plumbing, we want to encourage parents to treasure every splash with your little one to soak in the moments that pass far too quickly.

How many baths do parents give their children in their lifetime?

We did the maths and found that parents will give their children 975 baths in a lifetime before they’re ready for privacy.

Our calculations are based on recommendations that newborns, toddlers, and children aged 6-11 should have two to three baths per week. When it comes to bathing independently, a survey found that most adults say seven and half years old is a suitable age for children to start bathing alone [2], which aligns with general expert recommendations.

What does this mean for parents?

With just 975 bathtimes to treasure, time is ticking faster than you may think. So, based on this:

  • You will give your child 130 baths in a year.
  • Once your child turns four, you’ll have already shared over half of all the baths you’ll ever give them.
  • By the time they reach primary school, you only have 325 baths left with them.
  • On their seventh birthday, bath time is nearly theirs, with only 65 more baths left together.

Treasure every splash with these four bathtime memory-making activities

The numbers don’t lie; these special moments really are fleeting. That’s why we’re encouraging parents to make the most out of every bath as you watch your child grow up, develop, and gain their independence.

Here’s are four ways that you can treasure every splash:

  • Put a marble in a vase after every bathtime completed with your child to mark every special moment.
  • Create a gratitude journal to log bathtimes and watch them grow up over time.
  • Track their milestones with personalised patches to sew onto their baby towel.
  • Mark each bathtime on your bathroom door like a height chart.

Soak up the memories

Childhood passes in a blink, and those 975 bathtimes won’t last forever. Here at Victorian Plumbing, we understand that your bathroom is more than a bathroom; it’s a place to connect, play, and make memories with your child.

By making each bath a moment to laugh, explore, and bond, you’re giving your child more than just cleanliness, you’re giving memories that will last a lifetime. Treasure these moments. They grow up faster than you think.

Methodology

This research was conducted by reviewing recommendations from medical and parenting experts. Guidance on bath frequency was as follows:

The recommended age for solo bathing is typically around 7.5 years, supported by a 2015 survey and guidance from Parents.com.

Based on these recommendations, there are approximately 391 weeks in 7.5 years. With an average of 2.5 baths per week, a child would have roughly 975 baths before they reach the age of bathing independently.

Note: The total number of weeks has been rounded down to the nearest full week for simplicity.
