WEEE Explained

The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment or WEEE is a relatively new regulation introduced to address the environmental impact of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment from both businesses and consumers. The main focus of the WEEE directive is to ensure these products are being recovered & recycled or treated efficiently using the best available techniques. Under these regulations suppliers of EEE such as high street retailers and shopping internet sites must allow their customers to return their WEEE at no cost.

With the amount of WEEE increasing heavily year on year by as much as 5% this type of waste is fast becoming the largest waste stream in the UK. Currently much of this waste is ending up in landfill sites that are ultimately contaminating the surrounding land with lead and other poisonous toxins affecting local wildlife and even human health.

A great deal of the Electrical items currently thrown out with your usual rubbish can in fact be recycled helping to save our natural finite resources and reducing the health risk posed by dumping in landfills. Victorian Plumbing Ltd will carry out their responsibility as a Distributor and E-tailer to dispose of these goods in line with Current European legislation
